Great news! Your design proof is almost ready.
Follow the instructions below to guarantee that your book sails into publication, error-free.
VIEWING YOUR PROOF:
- Log into your OnPress account and click “View/Approve Proofs”, then click “View Proof” next to the one you want to view.
- Any notes from your designer will appear below the proof. Be sure to view them first.
- Download your PDF proof and open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- For manuscript proofs, check the following settings to view your book as it will appear once bound:
- View>Page Display>Two Page View (or Two Page Scrolling)
- View>Page Display> View Cover Page in Two Page View
- Read through your book, inside and out. Yes, the whole book.
NEED CORRECTIONS MADE?
- In a new Word document, compile:
-
- A clear and concise list of formatting/design changes (ex. Increase the size of the chapter headers by 2 points, change the title on the cover to red, etc.)
- Editorial corrections listed in the following manner:
- The page number (the one printed on the actual page),
- The complete sentence or paragraph exactly as it currently appears in your proof, and
- The same sentence/paragraph how it should appear with the revision included
Ex. Page xvii: The quik bron fox jump over lazy dog!
should read: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

- Once you have completed and saved your list, select “I reject the proof”.
- Upload your itemized list of corrections, as well as any images or design reference materials you want the designer to use for the next round of proofs.
- Click “Submit”.
- Wait for our team to e-mail you! Once your proof is rejected, all communication will be handled via e-mail. The designers and editorial coordinators aren’t available by phone, and require all information in writing to reference as they work.
A FEW IMPORTANT TIPS TO AVOID DELAYS:
- Before submitting, proofread your corrections. Our designers will be copying and pasting from your corrections document. Any errors introduced in the corrections will be carried over to your final document. You should also exclude hard returns, ellipses, hyphens, tabs, quotations or bullets unless they actually appear in the text you would like edited.
- Do not send corrections via email. All documents and reference materials must be uploaded through your OnPress account, as this is your direct line of communication with your designer. Sending information via e-mail (unless requested by an editorial coordinator) will delay your project and may result in information being overlooked.
- We’re not able to accept a marked-up or annotated PDF.
- Do not upload an entirely new manuscript for reformatting.
- Formatting/design corrections are not billable.
- Editorial corrections are billable, as are certain design changes. For more information on our correction fees, please click here. If your rejection incurs a fee, your editorial coordinator will let you know before any work begins.
- Repeated rejection rounds will delay your project and become costly. Do your best to gather all of your corrections in the first round.
- Author-supplied PDFs can’t be corrected or revised by OnPress. If you have revised any of your components not being designed by OnPress, please upload the finalized PDF with your rejection.
- Your proof may contain extra blank pages.
