Please be aware that these instructions are based on a US Trade template, so measurements and settings may differ for your specific trim size.
Begin by determining your page count. Even if it's not the final count, having an initial number is essential. The provided .idml file opens with a single page. Ensure your book layout has a page count divisible by 4. The template defaults to 'Facing Pages.' Ensure this setting remains selected; it displays your book as a two-page spread, resembling the final printed form.
Leave all other options unchanged. Upon opening the document, three sets of rectangles will be visible. Keep all text within the inner-most purple rectangle (safety zone). The black lines indicate trim (on the left/top/bottom) and gutter (on the right), while full-bleed images should extend to the red line.
When exporting your PDF, create a single-page document (avoid exporting as two-page spreads).
Use the PDF/X4:2008 setting (or the most recent available).
Configure your PDF viewer (Acrobat) to display in "Two Page View" by selecting "View>Page Display>Two Page View." Additionally, opt for "Show Cover Page in Two Page View" in the same menu.
This setting offers a book-like display of your manuscript, especially helpful when reviewing proofs for your OnPress print project.
